Re: SA rugby return to play
I am always right, Cheetahs over Sharks, WP over Griquas and Bulls to put 20 over Lions

Re: SA rugby return to play
Wins seem right although I think the Lions v Bulls match is going to be tighter if the Lions forward pack can compete in the scrums and at the breakdowns.OomStruisbaai wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 3:57 pm I am always right, Cheetahs over Sharks, WP over Griquas and Bulls to put 20 over Lions

Re: SA rugby return to play
The Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked third-round match between the Lions and Cheetahs, which was called off in line with Covid-19 protocols, has been declared a draw.
SA Rugby confirmed this news on Wednesday, stating it was ‘as a result of the inability to reschedule the match’.
Each team will be awarded two points.
https://www.sarugbymag.co.za/cheetahs-l ... ed-draw-1/[Hawes] Fourie explained why the game ultimately wasn’t rescheduled.
‘There was an opportunity. They gave us three other dates to play this game, but it would have been difficult. It would have meant that we would’ve played three games in eight days, and this wouldn’t be ideal anyway.
‘It might have jeopardised our chances in one of the other games if we played that match on a Wednesday.

Carling Black Label - Canadian brewer - but we know the beer it's been around awhile - sponsor the Currie Cup for three years
Re: SA rugby return to play
Used to drink Black Label as a youngster as it was the only cold beer in the pub fridge on a Saturday night (Lions was the popular beer then, followed by Castle)

Re: SA rugby return to play
Seems the SRU is merely the first round of the CC with a trophy for the first round leaders - same teams playing, SRU points get carried over and the venues are reversed.

Yes. To determine the real winner of the whole competition

Bad luck for Dan Kriel, he has been playing good rugby at 12, but playing both Odendaal (more a 12 than 13 anyway) and Simelane makes sense. Both MotM in the Lions last two matches

Re: SA rugby return to play
In the Lions v Bulls game ball at the breakdowns will be vital and a tough ask for the Lions against Marco and Thor
With enough ball to both sides the contest will between the two form flyhalves, Elton Jantjies and Morne "Call me Elton" Steyn

Re: SA rugby return to play
Breakdowns will be decided not only by the players but also depending upon the Referee's intrepretation.

Incorrect. Yes, SupeRugby's points do get carried over to the Currie Cup, but it's different competitions with separate trophies.Jensrsa wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 3:21 pmSRU is Round 1 of the CC. Wins by the Sharks, Lions and Stormers will set up the competition for the Currie Cup Round 1 trophy quite nicely

Sharks v Cheetahs game a comedy or errors so far. 5 or 6 scoring opportunities wasted between the teams so far

HT: Sharks 6-0 Cheetahs
What a botched first half. The Cheetahs botched at least 3 try opportunities (Sharks1) and missed a penalty goal. This doesn't count the 5m lineouts and scrums not converted to points
