FT: Griquas 33-34 Sharks

A real coach killer for both sides

Sharks really made heavy weather of beating a minnow that lost by big margins to the Stormers and the Lions

This keep Sharks in the hunt on the log. They were very lucky. Griquas deserved the win the way they played as a team

The ref save the Sharks. They kick way to much. their forwards struggled. Zakkie showed Nomada he should have been playing for the Sharks.

Stormers or Sharks will have to win with a bonus point if the Bulls game get canceled.

Can't see that happening.

Bulls deserves to win it

The Sharks’ match with the Stormers in Durban on Saturday has been cancelled following positive tests among the Sharks’ tighthead props.

It follows the cancellation of the Lions’ matches against the Cheetahs and Pumas.

“Players and management are urged to employ extreme caution in their social engagement,” said Jurie Roux, SA Rugby CEO.

“It only takes one careless interaction by a single player to have the knock-on effect that impacts on 45 other players, team managements, the schedule and potentially the destination of the title.

“As fit young athletes it may be tempting to think that they are ‘immune’ to infection and are free of comorbidities that make them vulnerable. But a positive test for one of them can have massive repercussions.

“I trust that team managements will underline that message on a daily basis to their playing personnel.”

The Sharks and Stormers match will be declared a draw and both teams will receive two log points, respectively.

Bulls should finish with the First Round Leaders Trophy even if their game against the Pumas is cancelled

Bulls only deserves their trophy. It would have been sad seeing them losing the Unlock trophy due to a cancelled game. Wondering why they haven't built an extra week into the competition for rescheduling matches

The aim with the competition was to prepare players for the RC. After we withdraw the CC was more the real thing.

Just to play rugby again is the main thing. We need our players to get back in the groove as 2021 is a massive year for us. TRC and RWC champions up against The British and Irish Lions. The world will come to a standstill to watch this while NZ and Aus set up records for amount of tests vs 2 countries.

I was really looking forward to the Sharks/Stormers, one of my favourite fixtures but it is what it is. The other good news is that the Varsity Cup fixtures are out (it kicks off on Monday 8 March)and that will give some younger players the opportunity to get some game time soon. At this stage probably no spectators but I am hoping they will allow a few officials so I can sneak in.....

Steval Pumas did well specially their scrum, good game in the wet. Again Jimmy Stonehouse showed the value of good coaching with his underdogs.
Bulls 21 - 5

No reason for a new thread. CC is just a continuation of the SRU with semis and a final added - same teams, reverse venues and log carried over

I thought Ivan van Zyl had a good run. He was terrible as a bok. Maybe he's coming right. The sevens guys like Gans, Arendse, Specman were good. Still not a big fan of underweight rugby players. Kolbe and Faf are freaks who can live with the big dogs. Others must go back to sevens.

My one uncle is a very big Bull's supporter. I had an argument with him when AC was coach and his opinion was that van Snail is a very good scrummy and that coaching and game plan is the problem. I have to agree though that AC was way out of his depth as SB coach and that Pote, well, Pote is just Pote.

Jake got Fourie du Preez in to coach Ivan Van Zyl and Embrose Pampier. First thing Jake told Ivan is to leave the kicking to 10. Bulls have Morne' Steyn that can do all the kicking that has to be done. Nr9 Jake is coaching to feed the backline and break like Fourie du Preez did in his playing days and not waste time on something they're not as good at as his nr10
