...is a bit excessive, no?
James Gemmell - “Having lived in the UK for 12 years now, and having covered every major club rugby competition in the world, I firmly believe #SuperRugbyAotearoa 2020 has produced consistently the highest quality rugby I’ve ever seen.”
Sean Fitzpatrick - Agree Jimmy 100%👍Also great to have the @BluesRugbyTeam back at the top table.
Gerry Thornley: Consistent trailblazers New Zealand once again ahead of the posse

It’s not hype, it has been that good.

Don't worry Mr D, if it's not your cup of tea there's plenty of NH club rugby to watch.

Oh wait, you can't. Sucks to be you, I guess.

Whats this Aetoroa?

SRA has been of an amazingly high quality, probably of a higher standard than anyone really expected.

Starts again this friday in England, but no crowds.

And good on you for mocking the impacts of a deadly pandemic

eta: I've caught a few SH games and it's been quite mixed, but the ones that were good were very good - Hurricanes vs Chiefs was a great watch.

Doesn’t make sense as a troll. They’re talking about the quality of that particular club competition, much as hype beasts have talked about the likes of the Heineken Cup. That the players who compete in the likes of the HEC also occasionally lose, or perhaps fail to make, semi-finals in completely different competitions is entirely irrelevant.

It’s underdone trolling like this that sees people of your ilk submit weakly, shamefully, to South Africans

Does Mr D ever actually participate in threads after he has trolled the thread topic or does he just sit back and admire his handiwork?

In all honesty it has been the best “club” competition I’ve ever seen and the majority of the games have been intense and entertaining, but it’s so far lacked one truly classic, balls-to-the-wall seesawing contest to really cap it off. One like that insane Clan vs Saders game from 2013 (or was it 2014?), or the Carlos game from 2004.

It’s up to the Blues this weekend. A damp squib would really suck

It’s a pity it didn’t come down to the final week. Bloody bonus points.

I really enjoyed SRA. Some proper heads up exciting rugby.
Not the box-kicking, risk adverse borefests we have up north. How many caterpillar rucks did we see in NZ over the last 2 months compared to your average GP game?

I have enjoyed it but it just doesn't feel like a blood and thunder game.

Like the lads are always laughing and joking with each other and shit.

Nah. Full credit to the Crusaders. Bonus points are bloody hard to come by with this ridiculous 'must win by 3 tries rule' and I'm not sure any other team had achieved this until last weeks Blues win over the Highlanders. Plus the Crusaders have only lost one game. Worthy champions IMHO.

I’m fine with it too tbh. Don’t like bonus points as a rule but crusaders are obviously worthy winners. Still, would’ve been awesome if the blues game was effectively a final.

Absolutely agree!

Would have been a fantastic finale to what has been a great competition.

It wasn’t all willy-nilly, helter skelter. It was full of smart ball players who instinctively know what to do with what they’re confronted with from props right through to fullbacks.

It was pretty good. Exhibition rugby over a short period of time.
Just lacks a bit of character, like Mullet said, there's no stakes really.
And it had a predictable winner/ending.

It has been fantastic and it has been telling how established players have noted the week in week out intensity. Having an afternoon game each week has also been awesome.

Yep, and no finals meant the stakes were high for each game, especially for such a short season. Reminiscent of early English Premiership pre introduction of finals.

I for one am shocked, truly gobsmacked, that NH posters with no skin in the game are saying things like Super Rugby Aotearoa lacks character and the stakes aren't very high.

Remarkable humility and foresight by NZR to not assume that COVID would remain suppressed and that they could host finals. That’s impressive anticipation.

Just look at the threads.

Far more "Great skills on show" than "I hate those Cantab cúnts"

Don't blame us that it's all Harlem Globetrotters.

Some amazing offloads you don't normally see in competitive rugby, they really just try things out.

Yeah well, we have people dying still in large numbers. So yeah it does suck. I guess NZ can add World Champion Covid Beaters to their trophy cabinet.

The unbearable smugness of being!
