Like him or not and like what he produces or not, I'm mostly in the not camp, you cant deny his phenomenal success at so many different specialities
Something of a renaissance man
Good luck to the lad, I don't have to watch him.

Re: James Corden OBE
They gave Jonny Wilkinson a CBE and David Beckham an OBE so I'm not really seeing an issue to be honest.
Re: James Corden OBE
His large head, and a fair bit about his persona, irritates me.
You can;t deny his success - 36 years old and has penned a sitcom, plays, films, job in the USA etc.
Hope for fat ugly people everywhere

I think he's a funny guy and must be a lot smarter than he comes across. He does accept some shit such as that Into The Woods film though.SamShark wrote:His large head, and a fair bit about his persona, irritates me.

For laughing like a hyena at shit jokes and fawning over more talented companions. His main talent is his ability to connect with fairly stupid viewers.

no problem with his success, good luck to him
the honours system is total shambles though, and an award such as this is just another example

Yep, pretty sure that's the only reason he won the BAFTA and the Tony

I like him.
If they can give knighthoods to the likes of Lenny Henry, or should I say Sir Lenny Henry... then they can give an OBE to the likes of him.
But it's a load of nonsense and the quicker we can do away with this sort of thing the better.

Meh the lovely Miss Sarpong beat him to the honours list.
He won a Tony award for his Broadway performance in One man, two guvnors. Seems like he has talent.

The majority of his work is lowest common denominator stuff. He appeals to the unwashed masses.deadduck wrote:Embassy Belt wrote:For laughing like a hyena at shit jokes and fawning over more talented companions. His main talent is his ability to connect with fairly stupid viewers.

I saw him in that (tickets were a gift) and, despite hating everything else he'd ever been in or done, he was suprisingly amusing and has an odd kind of charisma/presence in person.c69 wrote:Meh the lovely Miss Sarpong beat him to the honours list.

Still a plum though.

Well the honours are a throwback, a nice tradition but ultimately meaningless.Scrummie wrote:No hate or jealousy just don't understand an honour for a well paid run of the mill actor / comedian.Lorthern Nights wrote:I like him, think some of the hate must just be jealousy.AND-y wrote:I think he's a funny guy and must be a lot smarter than he comes across. Same thing goes for the Royal family. A meaningless expensive archaic anachronism personified.AND-y wrote:Well the honours are a throwback, a nice tradition but ultimately meaningless.Scrummie wrote:No hate or jealousy just don't understand an honour for a well paid run of the mill actor / comedian.Lorthern Nights wrote:I like him, think some of the hate must just be jealousy.AND-y wrote:I think he's a funny guy and must be a lot smarter than he comes across. The royal family are cheaper than any other type official head of state and their office. They are profitable if anything. That's why I support keeping them.

I think he represents a problem with many of our current crop of comendians, he's a bit funny sometimes, but is mostly kinda not. Not really done anything really witty.AND-y wrote:I think he's a funny guy and must be a lot smarter than he comes across.
