He's one of my favourite athletes of the last 5 years.

His career could be over.

I'm gutted for him.

Fck me, really?

Still, heard some rumors that you guys are going after The Great Tony Allen, just released from Bulls post-Mirotic trade. Would be a very nice stopgap at the very least.

Yeah - worst case is that he's done.

He tore his right patellar tendon down the middle. Conflicting reports that it took a chunk of the kneecap bone. :uhoh:

I'm hoping for the best - but history suggests we've seen the best of him.

TA? Not sure he's got much left in the tank to chase the nippier wings about... but he might tell Russ to stop being a lazy git on defence! I'd get him just for that!

I’m sure he could still do a job in a good system on 20 minutes a night. He was All-Defense just last year.

Unfortunately though I may have imagined that the Bulls released him...

Yeah - has just been confirmed as we're typing!

The Chicago Bulls are keeping the expiring contracts of both Tony Allen and Jameer Nelson in play as parts of potential larger packages. (Via @KCJHoop)
Ass.

Picking him up off waivers would have been nice.

So Roberson is out and the defense goes to shit.

Does that mean that OKC is a team that comprises of Westbrook, George and Anthony and the rest of the team plays around them and their games no matter what? I mean, if a defensive lynchpin like Roberson goes down and OKC starts shipping points and getting beaten then should those other players not change their style to compensate or pick up the slack?

Or they just take a "I'll do me" attitude and see the team turn to shit?

The Wizards have been playing incredibly well without Wall lately. They look like the Spurs of the past decade, ball flying everywhere and everyone getting great looks

5 wins on the trot without him. 8 guys scored double figures and 8 with multiple assists today

If JW's knee surgery recovery goes well they suddenly have a highly functional bench rotation come playoff time. Things are lookin up

I can understand the rationale in keeping him, tho - we haven't really seen him and Russell play together yet - a measly 50 minutes in total so far. Both guys can play off the ball.

However, what I'm really worried about is the fit in Atkinson's system - the Nets are second in 3PA, but are third to last in 3P%. Dinwiddie is currently at 33.4%, Russell is a 34.5% on his career, and RHJ is at 27.9% on the year. League average is 36.2%.

I'm confident that Russell can get his up, but can the Nets develop the other two? Maybe they don't need RHJ to...

I need to think on this more. The Nets are fascinating to me, and I want Marks to do well - so I take a keen interest in them.
3P% from season to season is notably volatile, though. It's so volatile that free throw percentage in college is actually a better predictor of NBA 3P% than college 3P% is. Dinwiddie is a 80% FT shooter so between that and his college stats (83% from the line, and also shot over 38% from deep), I'd expect his future 3P% to be significantly better than 33.4% over a larger sample size. Maybe a somewhat similar rationale for RHJ developing the range for a 3P shot eventually, too, although he's unlikely to ever be above average from deep.

Spencer is killing it today. His value will never be higher... :o

https://twitter.com/NBA/status/961060283941904386

It looks like they'll keep him - he is their best player after all... Woj says even if they got a 1st rounder for him, the likelihood of that player being better than Spencer are slim.

The Cavs could do with him - so maybe if they got their pick back... But it looks like the Cavs are hanging onto that for dear life right now.

Roberson was their defensive system:

http://www.normantranscript.com/oklahom ... 0e800.html

They can't play defence like they've been doing without him.

That said, they haven't had a chance to adjust - games have come too thick and fast. Hopefully they'll be able to tweak a few things over the All Star Break - ideally with a new starting SG on the books.

Reports that OKC may trade Patterson & a pick for Marcus Smart.

Smart is a pretty good replacement for Roberson, I guess. Good defender who can't shoot a lick - though he does improve the offence according to the stats.

He's not just a bad shooter, he's totally inept offensively. Better than Roberson mind. Bradley is a much better option but obviously not possible.

Fingers crossed for some action tomorrow

I'm not sure he is better than Roberson - Dre is defnitely better at finishing around the rim off cuts etc.

Bradley is overrated.

Smart is a better defender than him and can switch through 1-3.

Beggars can't be choosers, tho. I'd take either of them - but I sure as hell wouldn't give up a 1st for Smart.

And I want to keep Patterson. He should be starting, and is on a good contract.

Bradley is having a down year after a promising start but his D last year was exceptional and he is an amazing match-up for GS. Corner 3s and strong d is more than enough.

And my oh my PG13 what a player

I wouldn't say no to Bradley by any means - but:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2031 ... ey-defense

Smart > Bradley.

Of course Smart won't be able to help himself and he'd chuck 5 3s a game - b/c that's who he is...

I don't think the Thunder have enough to get either of these guys anyway. I blame Melo for this.

From #TheJump: Does it feel like injuries are up in the NBA? That's because they are - there's been a 31 PERCENT (31%!) increase in games lost to injury this year, and it's going to have trade deadline ramifications, starting in NYC.

Bron!

What a game in Cleveland.

Cavs win 140-138 over the Wolves, with Bron hitting the winner on a buzzer beater in the 1st OT.

The teams combined for 40 3s! Which is an NBA record. KAT alone was 6/6...

Defence wasn't the best - but some superb shot-making.

EDIT: Bron's winner over Jimmy - not an easy look! https://twitter.com/World_Wide_Wob/stat ... 9477316609

I'm not convinced the Thunder will even get to the 2nd round yet...

If Presti traded for Melo to get that Russ signature - then it was worth it. Otherwise, not so much...

Having Kanter, McBuckets, and the Chicago 2nd to work with now would be ideal.

Presti ain't getting fired anytime soon, tho.
