Knackers gonna knack.

Cockfighters gonna cock.

For once I'm with Earl. Best outcome would have been for an asteroid to hit the frigging arena.

Conor with a gang storm into a stadium, attack a bus including throwing dolly's into the window resulting in 2 people getting injured, one with glass in his eye. The UFCs response to this was to give Conor a title shot. There is nothing respectable about this.

All the UFC has done is shown they will pretty much turn a blind eye as long as you can bring the dollars. By following that line they enabled yesterday to happen

They can't really be accused of turning a blind eye to that incident. They used it as part of their promotion for the fight. So take that back

Tacitly accepted it then.

The only issue with Nurmagomedov is that he's Russian (villain) and Muslim (villain) and the yanks don't like that shit.

Christ, the WWE crossover with Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey is complete.

The UFC might condemn the actions, but they can't buy this kind of publicity/ notoriety.

No different to boxing that's for sure, and that's probably their template in terms of generating hype (Dana White is a boxing fan).

I don't care a jot.

Actually, that's not entirely true. I care in the sense that this is a big loss to the ridiculous fan club that thinks the jumped up scumbag with a big mouth is a role model.

Same demographic mainly with added scumbags.

Football fans perform self policing as they are very aware of their reputation while travelling.

Not so it seems when the sport is UFC

Did you not see that video where his dad made a big fuss about how all the change he got from the Luas ticket machine wouldn't fit comfortably into his custom tailored Hugo Boss jacket?

I'll be honest, that is the single thing I know about his family, not aware of anything else.

Had a taxi driver years ago who claimed to be McGregor's brother in law. Had only good things to say about him, outside of the stage persona. I've heard that lots, but McGregor just acts the mouthy plum so much that I just can't like him, even if I can recognise that he's very good at what he does. The hero worship annoys the shit out of me.

I guess this fight was one for the purists as most of it was spent on the ground? Still, the win was emphatic and I cannot see where McG goes from here, other than onto another highly lucrative fight.

The problem is that the stage persona seems to be taking over - net result of that was his run-in with the Kinehan.shower in the pub a while back.

If there was one element of him that they should mimic, it's his absolute dedication to training and bringing extra coaches on-board to improve his abilities etc.
He's in serious athletic shape, but acts like a complete plum. Which aspect do you think people find easier to copy?

His whiskey is relabelled stuff bought from other producers.

The hero worship of him really grates on me, mostlh because it doesn't focus on his athletic abilities but rather his "wit and charisma". His wit and charisma comes down to boasting about his penis size, telling people to shut up and speaking with a Dublin/irish accent whilst wearing suits and shades indoors.

I think there's better Irish role models and hero worship fodder out there.

If the average UFC fan switched to watching pantomimes it would save a lot of blood, bus repairs, and shit whiskey. The rest of it needs no adjustment.

Reckon McGregor will spark him next time.
It was always a bad match up for both of them.
Khabib was right about one thing, McGregor could use a good humbling. It will do him the world of good.

Just a thought. Would MMA fans on here watch Bradley v Provodnikov and provide me with a comparable mixed code scrap that gets near it? I cannot gain comparable excitement/enjoyment much as I’ve tried since the open category era with Royce / Goodrich and so on. It’s a redundant combat spectacle now, one half decent opening all over, flawed format.

Can't see it happening. Khabib has seen him off and will only be better prepared when/if there is a rematch. And McGregor is too lazy to address his weaknesses. Tony Ferguson would probably beat McGregor.

It depends on how much McGregor wants it.
He’s not really hungry any more, he has everything he has ever wanted.
That takes a huge edge off in the fight game where one mistake can cost.

His crucial mistake (and where Khabib did his homework) is that he is used to touching his smaller opponents with his right hand in order to gauge the distance, knowing that he is then in reach for the big left hand, while his opponent isn’t.
Khabib being bigger waited for McGregor to touch him and then immediately landed the game changing overhand right, using the touch to know he was also in range.

Bit unfair on Tiger Woods. Since when is it bad behaviour for sports stars to cheat on their wives?

You may have to turn the sound down for this, tbf the fight is awesome from start to finish, but is not on youtube. Twas a good fast fight between two highly talented fighters.

His crucial mistake is that he didn't train hard or well enough to counter or at least effectively combat Khabib's ground game. He also has dire cardio, by comparison, and the desire/motivation was lacking. But he's a tapper if he can't land a KO. Nate Diaz exposed that and Khabib proved it.
