Official Braai Thread
Re: Official Braai Thread
Bomfire sounds like a bonfire rather than a braai, and what's wrong with being concerned with local air quality or even your carbon footprint? You also mentioned "saffas" being pathetic so who are the other pathetic sa posters?
Anyway, back on topic - any suggestions for a good fish that's available in the western Cape for the braai?

I have invited a friend around for a braai and to watch the rugby tomorrow afternoon.
Our first braai in the Windy City.
While the Stormers are beating the Hurricanes I'll braai bacon wrapped cherries, jalapeno poppers and satay chicken.
Then steak, pork rashers and lamb chops. Coleslaw and baked potato with sour cream.
Should be fun.

Nipper enjoys fancy cooking so chilli could just cook a nice meal in the oven and they should be fine. He just needs to make sure he uses the latest new fancy gadgets. A normal old bredie wont impress Nipper much.Sandstorm wrote:Best to braai in your dining room in PE.Chilli wrote: Our first braai in the Windy City.

Re: Official Braai Thread
anyone tried marrow bone on the coals

Re: Official Braai Thread
First, sort out your margins FFS!
Second, I love it, but haven't done it myself. Was at a wedding in Greyton end of 2019 and the mains was fillet with marrow. I finished mine and half of my wife's, was awesome.

Must get used to Imgur...

Re: Official Braai Thread
Its very easy...you buy the bones and then scrape all the flesh off the outside of the bone and give that to the dogs...you then soak them in salt water for 20 minutes and throw on the coals with some seasoning on it....the soaking also bleaches the bones to get that whitish finish...I sliced an old burger roll into thin slices and then threw it on the coals for a short bit so not to burn...you take a clove of garlic and scrape it onto the bread to spread it like butter ...( its toasted so rough )...then a sprinkle of olive oil for effectMonk Zombie wrote:the marrow bone looks excellent!

will do first charcoal braai this weekend, I've arranged my garage and found 6 sacks of coals my old zimbo housesitters had left
wont be anything flash like marrow bones and sards shit like that, just steak, o wors ring, marinated chicken quarters (that bright orange powder stuff you can buy in SA Afrikaans butcheries), braaibrookies and lots of mealies.
and i'm getting our jacuzzi out too. this lockdown is hell.
