Peter "Chicken Wing" O'Mahoney
Peter "Chicken Wing" O'Mahoney
How long do you reckon he will be suspended for?
And is this his last game for Ireland?
Like Vahaamahina for France?

Probably one match. It was contact on the head but Welsh player was falling down.
Re: Peter "Chicken Wing" O'Mahoney
Are you serious? The Welsh player targeted was no threat at all in the ruck precisely, and therefore PAM'S act is clearly not intended to be a clear out.CrazyIslander wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 6:38 pm Probably one match. It was contact on the head but Welsh player was falling down.
Secondly, he extended his elbow (chicken wing is the word chosen by the TMO to describe the act) to make sure he caught the head of the Welsh player. Very deliberate. Add to this that he came in flying and never tried to bind to anybody, just dived into the ruck, which in itself is a penalty too.
Re: Peter "Chicken Wing" O'Mahoney
He will get a week due to mitigation.
First time in a ruck.

Re: Peter "Chicken Wing" O'Mahoney
3 weeks would be my guess.
Coaches and media seem to love him, despite his many flaws, so I'd expect him to come straight back into the team.

Re: Peter "Chicken Wing" O'Mahoney
Of course it was deliberate that he hit him, Wales player was part of the breakdown. But POM was in a low driving position and the Wales player was falling backwards. In the end the contact to the head wasn't with much force. Enough for red and one week.TheFrog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 6:44 pmAre you serious? What a f**king moron. Hopefully we can all agree that.
This is his second red for the same thing in 12 months.
It was just so blatant. Not even a hint of subterfuge or skulduggery.
Just smashing a bloke in the face, in full view of 27 TV cameras.

It wasn't clever, but it was no different from about 50 percent of All Black/Springbok clear-outs in their respective rugby histories.

Re: Peter "Chicken Wing" O'Mahoney
PR rated Mahoney 3/10 for his 15min of action and 1 red card. I don't know what he has done in 14min to get all 3pts, bearing in mind he was penalized for a side entry into a ruck too (though I know that, by Irish standards, there is nothing wrong with that).

This clearly shows he wasn't interested in protecting the ball, leaving Wales 7 the freedom to go for the ball. He was deliberately trying to hurt the Welsh tackler who wasn't, himself, a threat to Ireland retaining possession.sorCrer wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 7:29 pmNot arguing that. IIRC, at the time Barnes actually said 'nothing wrong only a cleanout'.
Very poor form.

He wasn't clearing out the jackaller. It was a cheap shot on a prone player who wasn't contesting.
Cowardly.

Here is a transcript from Trump inciting the crowd to take over the Capitol. Sorry, of the TMO exchange with Barmes:
His left arm was almost tucked in a chicken wing action and he's hit him in the head, hasn't he? Let's deal with the facts, first of all.
"It's definitely foul play. He's come from a distance at high speed and has hit someone in the head. That's the facts. He's not in control. It's high danger. That's the facts. Does anyone disagree with that? So the sanction is, red card.
Re: Peter "Chicken Wing" O'Mahoney
My view. Entry point 6 weeks? 8 weeks? He has previous too. And this was deliberate and malicious. I think it is at least 12 weeks.Da iawn diolch wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 7:55 pm

I think they decided to give a minimum of 3pts to all green players just for being Irish.franch fan wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 8:08 pmWell, they did worse, they gave 7 to SextonTheFrog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 7:18 pm PR rated Mahoney 3/10 for his 15min of action and 1 red card. Oddly enough the only person disagreeing with this was Barnes himself.......TheFrog wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 7:57 pm Here is a transcript from Trump inciting the crowd to take over the Capitol. Sorry, of the TMO exchange with Barmes:
