IRB World Rankings - Japan now 7th
Re: IRB World Rankings - Japan now 7th
Boks need to get a test under their belt. Stats can be skew at times for instance in the RCs stats in this thread 2020 was not a RCs but a Tri-Nation

How can they - they don’t have 400 mins quality game time in advance so it’s not safe. No games before the Lions, then no Lions - when will they play.
Is 2021 another year without games?

If everyone is as scared of the SA variant of the virus as we currently are... then it could be another 0 test year for SA....kiwigreg369 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 5:26 amHow can they - they don’t have 400 mins quality game time in advance so it’s not safe. Will get a test under their belt before Lions once Call on tour is made
Re: IRB World Rankings - Japan now 7th
That is the experts have always said. We need more testing. That is the only way we'll isolate the South African variant.

At least 2 cases of the South African variant recorded in Montgomery County MD

Maybe too late.
Re: IRB World Rankings - Japan now 7th
The V2 variant was discovered here because South Africa is the world leader in genome sequencing.

Good graph. Not in quantity. V2 ('African variant') came from Europe

They are waiting for a decision in Mar. on the Lions tour. There may be a warm up test against Argentina provided it's their A-Team.
Franchises Cup starting 27 Feb. then Rainbow Pro16. For juniors Varsity Cup starting and go-ahead Clubs Schools received

Ain’t no fucking way a Lions tour is happening to SA, unfortunately.

I don’t think so either - but all countries involved have had equally inept approaches so who knows.
Getting a rainbow cup up and running in April seems interesting- it’s not clear how this would be managed (think UK still has a ban on travel from SA, not sure about Ireland...)

Either way don’t think SA is doing anything that impacts rankings this year...

It might have come from Europe or America.ZuluBoy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 5:17 am Good graph. Not in quantity. V2 ('African variant') came from Europe

The sequencing is a numbers game. The more quantity tested, and the faster it's done, the less we rely on luck in detecting variants before they can wreak full havoc.
Look, South Africa is doing well. They could do with that upgrade as mentioned to speed up the processing.
