Shame none of these Chiefs players will make the test team. After this you’d expect a few retirements. I can’t even watch - this stopped being a sport ages ago. Now it’s just assault.

He looks good but his option taking is not consistent. He also seems to get flustered in a fast paced game. I certainly wouldn’t write him off but hes not ready for test footy
Fair comment. But he’s still young and no-one is saying he’s ready right now
Couple of years might be a good time
I’d say so. Hes probably good as a squad member but hard to start him. Donaldson looks pretty good.
On another note 13 is a bit of a worry. I’d go JOC at 10 then Paisami 12 and Perese 13. Put a couple of rampaging Fijians on the wing and Banks at 15. Wright on the bench to cover wing/fullback.

Some statements were made in last night's game against very good opposition:

LSL - certainty (but I always thought he was)
Wilson - confirmed.
Vunivalu - first time that he looked like a complete rugby player. Real X-factor there.

My issue with Vunivalu is that I haven’t really seen him kick. And putting him at 14 with an 11 that doesn’t kick either (Korebeite) is risky. I’d have Vunivalu in the squad but he will be an outsider to start. I feel Wright gets the gong there.

I'd like Vunvalu in the squad. Dude is flash as a rat with a gold tooth. I'm a huge Wright fan though.

I’ve seen him kick a couple of times. Decent. Much better than MK - better than Folau.

I’m big on Wright. He’s a left winger btw - same as MK.
MK is off to France at the end of the year, so as good as he is, he’s the one that needs to take a back seat. 😞

So the certainties XV imo:

1. Slipper
2.
3. Typou
4. LSL
5.
6. Valetini
7. McReight (until Hooper is back)
8. Wilson
9. Gordon
10. JOC
11. Wright
12.
13.
14.
15. Banks

Certainties? None.

Genuine contenders are Toomua, Paisami, Perese, Petaia, Ikitau and Simone.

Then I saw that Henry cutting up yesterday….. I give up! 😂

I always think Wright plays like a 14 more than an 11 - as in, quick, good boot, good under the high ball, looks to beat his man on the outside. That’s compared to an 11 who I think of as better in the tight, can step a man, can break a tackle. MK plays that really well.

We have some depth which is nice

Pity Ant Faingaa and Pat McCabe have retired though

Would you put a bloke with a great right foot step on the left wing? What if you had a left foot kicker - left or right wing?

I think there’s a lot that goes into it - they both play left wing for their club and this was what I was looking at.

Pfft.

Walk up start at 12 for any team in world rugby.

Btw, couple of rumours that he’s keen to come back. Tahs could use him and probably afford him. Terrifying prospect partnering him with Perese.

I remember the Irish publicising that they were going to choke-tackles McCabe

I remember every man and his dog saying that Deans would take account of this and instruct McCabe differently

I remember McCabe being choke tackled about 150 times in that game and us losing

After that, I don’t remember much of the rest of the evening

All of the NZ teams have big fast men in the centres. Having Kerevi at 13 would be a boost.
Perese plays above his weight, as does Paisami, but actually having a massive fast beast at 13 would be very nice.

I remember we had McCalman at openside flanker and our scrum getting whistled off the park. Meanwhile, we had 29 decent open sides watching it on tv back in Australia and Greg Holmes shaking his head, wondering whose dog he’d run over to miss out, as the sexual assault continued on Ben Alexander. I also remember after the game that it was all Quade Cooper’s fault.

Perese slips tackles in a way that a big man would envy.

He refuses to be tackled, he hates it, won’t allow it

A Paisami/Kerevi midfield would be downright scary for all opposition.

Towny obviously didn’t watch the Tahs/Crusaders game

Where Perese single-handedly made up the entire Tahs attack, against one of the best teams in the world.

I’m considering a funky nickname for him.
