That shot from Young highlights why I'd prefer he bat at 4 rather than move to opener. He's an expansive stroke maker and isn't quite as precise as Conway (who could bat anywhere)

I don’t think we have much hope of beating India so this is a nice series win.

Sort of this. It's also rather difficult to equate words penned by English journos saying things like it's not actually a disgrace to lose to the Black Caps because they're terrific. You do a double take, not quite connecting the words.

I just can’t allow myself to hope when it comes to the Black Caps.

I think Jeremy Coney's views were pretty spot on:

From an outsider's point of view it is very difficult to understand how you can surround yourself with so many coaches, helpers and so many staff and so many facilities and so much money and so many good contracts and perform like that.

Rory Burns with hands stuffed in his pockets is not a good look.

Shame it's not a full series - or as full as we usually deign to give you, anyway. On the other hand maybe not such a shame from England's perspective, as we'd lose the extra tests as well.

When did NZ last get three tests against England? And why are NZ's test series shrinking in test numbers?

New Zealand now a superior cricketing nation to England. They should have won the ODI world cup as well

Well deserved, I'm not sure if England won any sessions in those games.

It would be amusing to see NZ refuse to give England more than a three-match series in future.

Geez that is a great achievement. Shouldn't be understated. Not only beat but thrashed England at home - England's first home loss since 2014, our first win in England since 1999. And they did it missing 5 first choice players in Kane, BJ, Southee, CDG, and Jamieson.

One to savour 👍👍

Good stat from Twitter:

"Tests won in England this century:

Australia - 11
New Zealand - 2

Test series won in England this century:

Australia - 1
New Zealand - 1

#Efficiency"

Yes, that would be quite funny.

Our test team is in a bad place, especially the batting. Pope could be a good un but the rest of the young batsmen look very brittle to me. Crawley is still dining out on that double ton, but I think his recent scores are more representative of him as a player, sadly.

I didn't realise until recently how good England's home record has been the last 7 years.
