Mind you, I did spend some time in Iran negotiating contracts after the JCPOA, but for all his efforts, the British ambassador (as much as the French or German ones for that matter) failed to impress the Iranian. They knew the master was in the US and waited for that signal before signing.

You'd be surprised, but the Biden administration also want the EU to be stronger. The US need a buffer in Europe too.

i think everyone wants europe to be stronger (yep, even brexiteers).

time to let go of the past and go for that 'ever stronger union', now we're not there holding things up.

I suppose an EU army would start off a war economy in the bloc. Good for jobs in eastern Europe I suppose

The funniest part in all of this was learning that the French Embassy in DC still throws annual Battle of Chesapeake Bay parties.
